When God called Abraham to set out on his journey of faith, God promised that He would bless Abraham, that Abraham would be a blessing, that anyone who blessed him would themselves be blessed and that eventually through him all the world would be blessed!

Gen 12:2-3 NKJV
I will bless you
And make your name great;
And you shall be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.

Paul tells us in Galatians 3:9 “So all who put their faith in Christ share the same blessing Abraham received because of his faith”

Abraham received His blessing because of his faith, not because of his behavior. It was his relationship and journey of faith with God that was the key to him and his family living a blessed life.

In the same way Paul highlights that we who put our faith in Christ share the same blessing Abraham received. That means that our relationship with God is the key to living a blessed life.

The more we grow in our love for God, the more our relationship grows with Him, the more our life is blessed.

Let’s never let our focus shift from God, the Blesser, onto the blessings. Remembering what God said to Abraham “I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward”. God Himself is our reward!
