Eph 1:3 ESV

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places”

“God bless you.” You've heard it said many times, whether in church, by a friend, during a speech, or written on a cardboard sign. With its familiar, almost daily use, the phrase may seem to lose its meaning or power. God, however, is all powerful. And what a lovely thought it is, to be blessed by God.

Have you ever thought about us blessing God? Did you know that we can be the one to bless? I’ve read it in Scripture before, and I've even sung it during worship songs, but I hadn't really thought about how it works. How can I, a mere human, bless God Almighty? Does it even matter or make a difference? It does! This is what is so unique and incredible about a relationship with God – we can bless the Blesser.

The word bless in the Greek, eulogétos, means ‘to speak worthy of.’ If there is one thing we can do today to cultivate our relationship with God, we can praise Him. We can talk about His love and His grace. We can lift up His name. There is no better way to exemplify God’s love for us than by sharing our love for Him. Relationship always goes both ways. God blesses us, and we should bless Him too.
