Whenever God blesses us He has more than just us in mind. God not only wants to work in us and with us, but He wants to work through us.
He blesses us so that we can be blessed but also be a vehicle of blessing to others.
God said to Abraham “I will bless you and you will be a blessing…and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed” (Gen 12:2-3). God blessed Abraham because He not only had him in mind but He had the whole world in mind.
How important it is for us to remember that God’s blessings are so much more than being just for us personally. In fact the more that we allow God’s blessings to flow through us the more God’s blessings flow to us.
God’s word is filled with examples of individuals, groups of people and nations, including Israel, who lost their perspective in the blessing along with the purpose of the blessing. God told Israel that they should not think that they were chosen because they had any special qualities, but simply because God wanted to show His love to them and reveal His love through them to the whole world.
Of course this was pointing to Jesus in whom and through whom we receive every blessing.
Lets never forget God’s blesses us so that we can be a blessing. The greatest blessings in life are found in sharing God’s love and blessing with the people in our world. Be blessed and be a blessing!
