OUR HOME
CURRENT building + BUilding fund
Our Vision has always been to be a hub of hope and faith to our community and beyond. Our building is our biggest expense but has continued to be an invaluable resource as our church home, where we can fulfill our vision and be a storehouse that resources the needs of our community. As we grow, our vision is to be able to move into an ownership position in the days ahead.
community events
This year we’ve been able to open our doors to the community to host various events for people in need of space. We were able to open our doors for several memorial services and celebration services, while also providing care and support to the hundreds of individuals in attendance. We also hosted mid-week rehearsals, concerts and even another church’s conference who do not have a building of their own.
Anchor Stone Church
We have been able to increase the usage and Kingdom reach of our church building this year by providing space for Anchor Stone Church, who hold a Mandarin speaking service, in our second auditorium (the barn) on Sunday mornings.
OUR EXPANSION
SPANISH SERVICE
We have had great interest in our Spanish service and have already begun the planning process. We will be announcing the date of our first service later this month.
OUR MINISTRIES
following jesus + DISCOVERY
This year we started two new ministries called Following Jesus and Discovery. These classes have helped strengthen people who have made decisions to follow Jesus and helped people discover their God-given gifts. We’ve seen many people grow in their walk with God, be discipled, and find purpose in their life.
church retreat
This year we held our first ever all church retreat. Many of our church gathered in the local mountains to spend two days together connecting, worshipping, and hearing inspiring messages from Steve Penny and Pastor Jonathan. We are excited to make this retreat an annual event as part of our vision.
kidfest
We had an amazing KidFest 2019! This was our third year putting on KidFest and we had more kids and more salvations than ever before. The kids enjoyed a fun-filled day of adventure and Jesus. They worshiped, played games, made crafts and learned all about how God wants us to know Him and how He sent His son Jesus to save us.
OUR COMMUNITY
FOOD WITH LOVE
This year we were able to hand out fresh food to approximately 800 people every week who don’t have the resources to provide enough food for themselves and their families. We distributed a total of 642,500 lbs of food during the year.
Orangewood
This was our fifth year going into Orangewood, a local orphanage and emergency shelter for children. We continued to teach inspiring lessons from the Mirror Mirror and Freedom books, which have helped these traumatized youth open up, build self esteem and give them hope to dream and live for the future.
TEEN COURT COLLABORATIVE
The Teen Court Collaborative is a group of community partners who respond to the unique needs of Orange County’s highest risk foster teen population. This year we had the opportunity to host three Teen Court events where these teens were able to come and be motivated, inspired, and enjoy an atmosphere of fun.
LOCAL & NATIONAL SCHOOLS LIFE SKILLS TRAINING
In partnership with The Imagine Foundation, we have been able to reach and positively impact female students, ages 12-18, through our Mirror Mirror program since 2009. This year we are launching the FREEDOM Kids! program for both male and female students ages 12-18. The goal of these programs is to develop and increase healthy self-esteem, resilience and belongingness in each student. We are also committed to partnering with nationally recognized social-emotional organizations that align with our values based programs, such as PAL (Peer Assistance & Leadership) and Best Buddies. PAL is a positive peer influence organization that provides opportunities for older students to mentor younger students. Best Buddies is a program that builds friendships between students with and without IDD (Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities), offering social mentoring while improving the quality of life and level of inclusion. The Mirror Mirror and FREEDOM Kids! programs are scientifically validated through an evidence-based study and are designed to inspire and equip the future potential of each participant.
SERVE DAYS
We were able to host two serve days this year where we served over 1250 individuals. In the summer we gave out 150 backpacks filled with school supplies, and over 400 toys at Christmas. Between these two events we also gave out over 27,000 lbs. of food.
OUR WORLD
peru missions trip
This year we sent a 14 member team on a Missions trip to Peru, to partner with Camino de Vida, a church Pastored by Robert and Karyn Barriger in Lima. During our time, we built a house for a family of 7, assembled and gave away 11 wheelchairs to the disabled community, served 100 hot meals at a local hospital, and organized a festival for kids that grow up in one of the most dangerous cities in Lima.
VISION RESCUE
This year, as a church, we sponsored 5 children who live in the slums of Mumbai in partnership with Vision Rescue in Mumbai, India. Vision Rescue provided them with education, nutritious meals, shared the Gospel with them along with basic healthcare, economic empowerment, case management ,and advocacy for their families.
65 million people in India live in slums and 47% of children in slums are malnourished, uneducated and in high risk situations.
Our goal for 2020 is to increase our sponsorship from 5 children to a whole classroom of 20 children.
