Steve Penny is a minister with a passion to see the church flourish around the world.
He planted his first church in his early thirties and has not stopped planting and growing churches ever since. Up until the end of 2009 Steve & Marion were the Senior Pastors of a key church on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland, Australia.
Since then Steve and Marion have been committed to helping churches know God’s plan for their territory, their team, and their time and Steve has travelled to many churches where his faith and wisdom always left a deposit in the hearts of people and many people responded by saying yes to Jesus in his meetings.
We are excited to welcome Steve to our very first Newport Church Retreat!
Forest Home Camp is located in the Ojai Valley in Forest Falls, CA. It is a beautiful camp facility with gorgeous scenic views, a fully functional man-made lake featuring water slides, kayaks, and games. They all come together to provide a fun-filled, recreational weekend for everyone.

Natalia Kim will lead a Christian yoga session for those who want to start the morning in a peaceful state of calm and relaxation.
Enjoy a relaxing paint session with Nick LeGuern. Learn something new together! *$15 for painting supplies
The price is $130 per person, and $100 for youth [6th grade+]. This includes 3 meals, lodging, recreational activities, and 3 sessions with worship, prayer and our guest speaker Steve Penny.
Everyone! Whether you are new and looking to find community, or you’ve been around a while and you need some time for R&R and sitting under the Word, you are invited! We are going to have a wonderful time of teaching, worship, rest, and connection that you won’t want to miss out on!
While we love our children, we also value parents taking time to fill themselves up so that they can be the best parents they can be. Please consider finding a babysitter for just one night and invest into yourself!
For those with kids in our Newport Youth program [6th grade+] we will have some breakout sessions with our Newport Youth team during free time. However during meal times and main sessions, all parents will be responsible for their children. Newport Youth will assume responsibility only during designated Youth breakout sessions.
Since we will be camping in the mountains, the lodging will be dorm style cabins. We will be dividing the cabins between males and females, which will be a fun opportunity to grab your buddies and have an overnight party. If you have any questions or special needs regarding the sleeping arrangements please let us know!
Since everyone will have different schedules on the date of departure, transportation is not included. However we will have people meeting at Newport Church at 2pm on Friday to caravan to the camp. Carpooling is encouraged as well!
Due to the contracts we have to sign with the camp, each registration is nonrefundable, but transferable upon request should you have an emergency arise.
Since we will be in the mountains, comfortable clothing and shoes are recommended. Be prepared for mild temperatures around 70 during the day, and cooler temperatures at night around 50. There will be a lake available to us for swimming and kayaking, so you may want to bring a bathing suit as well. The camp does have a modest bathing suit policy in which they request women wear a one piece bathing suit or a t-shirt over their two piece bathing suit.
