You are the Salt of the Earth and the Light of the World

Hi Newport Church Family,

We hope that you are experiencing God’s presence, grace and favor in ever increasing ways.

You are the Salt of the Earth and the Light of the World

Jesus used the analogy of the value of salt and light to describe how our presence makes a difference in our world.

Salt adds flavor, purifies, is an antiseptic healer and a preservative. As one of the most precious commodities in the ancient world, it was a symbol of  value.

God told the newly formed nation of Israel to present all of their offerings with salt, and He referred to the covenant that He was making with them as a covenant of salt. Even to this day in some parts of the middle east, salt represents relational covenant and loyalty between people.

Without light we would not be able to see, and a world of darkness would be devoid of life.

So when Jesus said, “you are the salt of the earth and the light of the world”, His words were filled with powerful images of the importance of our presence as followers of Christ.

Jesus said:

“Let me tell you why you are here. You’re here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavors of this earth. If you lose your saltiness, how will people taste godliness? You’ve lost your usefulness and will end up in the garbage.

“Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:13-16

Let’s never forget why we are and the difference our presence makes as salt and light, in our homes, work place, community and church.

Your presence makes all the difference!

Our Life and our Legacy

When we live as the salt of the earth and the light of the world our lives not only make a difference today, but leave a legacy for future generations.

A legacy is anything that is handed down to us from the past.

As beneficiaries of the faith and sacrifices of previous generations we now have the opportunity to do the same for future generations.

As Jesus said, “Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.”

Our generosity not only makes a difference today but it leaves a legacy tomorrow!

The word “legacy” comes from the Latin verb “legare”, which means “to send with a commission or charge” or “to appoint as one’s representative.”

We can think of it this way, the giving of our time, talent and treasure is sending a commission and message of hope to our world, both now and in the future, while storing up treasure for us in heaven where moths, rust and thieves cannot destroy or steal!

What an amazing chain reaction we are setting into motion when we give!

Thank you for partnering with us, together we are making a difference and leaving a lasting legacy!

If you would like to give a donation, your tithes or offering now, you can do so by clicking here

Also if you have not yet had an opportunity to read and fill out the Vision 2021 offering commitment cards, which you received in the mail, please take a moment to prayerfully consider the part that you can play in resourcing our vision as a church. You can either put the cards in the offering box in the foyer of the church, or email a photo of the card to michael.ellmann@newportchurch.com

Tomorrow I will be continuing our series on “Presence” and speaking about the power of a healthy heart.

Come early for a cup of coffee. We’re going to have a great time together and we hope that you can join us either online or in person at 11am.

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

We love and appreciate you all greatly!

The Power of our Voice, our Message, and our Presence

Hi Newport Church Family,

We trust that you are doing well and experiencing a fresh measure of God’s presence, grace and peace.

The Power of our Voice our Message and our Presence

There is nothing that the enemy would rather see than the church being silenced, our message muted and our presence removed.

Over the last twelve months the enemy has been hard at work doing all that he can to do precisely that.

Paul said that as believers we should not be ignorant of the enemy’s devices, and Jesus exposed the devil’s strategy and purpose, which is to kill, steal and destroy.

Jesus said that whatever the enemy does and however hard he tries to destroy us, the gates of hell will not prevail against the church of Jesus Christ and the progress of people who put their trust and hope in Him.

Whatever change and restrictions we have had to face, however much our lives have been disrupted, God’s plan and purpose remain unchanged, unrestricted and undisrupted!

We have a voice, we have a presence, we have a message of hope that our world needs to hear more than ever.

Let’s make our presence known, our message clear and our voices heard in bringing faith and hope to our community and world.

Here are 3 ways that we can do this:

 1)  Our Presence gives us a Voice

Jesus said that wherever two or more are gathered together in His name, He will presence Himself in their midst.

Now that we have the opportunity to meet again in person, our gathering is not only a time when we can encourage one another, but it’s also a declaration to our world of the unshakeable nature of the church and God’s kingdom.

Theodore Beza wrote in the 16th Century, “the church is an anvil that has worn out many a hammer,“  and as we gather after a season where the church has been under yet another hammer, we continue to declare the strength of the church and our centrality to God’s purpose in our world.

Whether you are watching online or joining us in person, let’s be a church that is a true voice of hope and faith to our community and beyond through our presence.

2)  Our Prayer gives us a Voice

Martin Luther said, “Prayer is not overcoming God's reluctance. It is laying hold of His willingness.”

We must never forget that whatever challenges we are facing, God is not only able but willing to do exceedingly abundantly above and beyond all that we could ever ask, hope or imagine.

Martin Luther also said, “Pray and let God worry!”

Let’s keep lifting our voices to God, asking Him to turn back the tide of COVID-19, and that people would turn towards Him in these difficult days.

We are praying that what may be a trickle will become a stream, the stream will become a river and the river will become a flood of people finding faith and hope in Jesus.

3)  Our Generosity gives us a Voice

Our generosity gives us a voice and presence in our community and world.

We’ve all heard it said that actions speak louder than words.

James the brother of Jesus said: “What good does it do, my brothers, if someone claims to have faith but does not prove it with actions?”

He went on to say:

“If a fellow man or woman has no clothes to wear and nothing to eat, and one of you say, “Good luck to you I hope you’ll keep warm and find enough to eat”, and yet give them nothing to meet their physical needs, what on earth is the good of that? Yet that is exactly what a bare faith without a corresponding life is like—useless and dead.” James 2:15-17

It’s our generosity that turns our words into action, giving us a presence in peoples’ lives, and opening their hearts to the voice of God and the words of Jesus.

Thank you for partnering with us through your faithful giving and generosity, which is enabling us to be a voice of hope and faith, and to presence us in the midst of the need all around us.

If you have not yet had an opportunity to do so, please take time to read and fill out the Vision 2021 cards which you received in the mail. You can put them in the offering box in the foyer of the church, or email a photo of the card to michael.ellmann@newportchurch.com.  Your giving is making a difference!

As each one does its part, the body builds itself up in love

Ephesians 4:16

First Tuesday - March 2nd 7.00pm

This Tuesday is the first Tuesday of the month and all of our leaders, teams, volunteers and church will be gathering for a time of worship, vision and inspiration from the Word.

We would love to see you in person at church, or online. It won’t be the same without you, your presence will make a difference!

Can’t wait to see you all this Sunday at 11am and Tuesday at 7pm.

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

God’s Presence and Peace

Hi Newport Church Family,

We trust that you are doing well and experiencing a fresh measure of God’s presence, grace and peace.

God’s Presence and Peace

Last Sunday I spoke about our heart being the wellspring of life and how our heart will determine how much we experience God’s presence.

King David, who God said was a man after His own heart, valued God’s presence above all else.

David said:

Here’s the one thing I crave from God,
the one thing I seek above all else:
I want the privilege of living with him every moment in his house,
finding the sweet loveliness of his face,
filled with awe, delighting in his glory and grace.
I want to live my life so close to him
that he takes pleasure in my every prayer.
In his shelter in the day of trouble, that’s where you’ll find me,
for he hides me there in his holiness.
He has smuggled me into his secret place,
where I’m kept safe and secure—
out of reach from all my enemies.

Psalm 27:4-5 TPT

The more David sought God’s presence, the more he experienced God’s peace.

Even though David needed peace, it wasn’t peace that was his focus, God’s presence was his focus. He sought God’s presence first, above all else, and with God’s presence came God’s peace.

The more David sought God, the more he experienced God’s presence and the more he experienced God’s presence the more he experienced peace.

It’s so easy in times of stress or trouble to focus on seeking God’s peace instead of seeking God’s presence.

God’s presence is the key to knowing true peace.

Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matt 11:28 NIV

As we focus on “Presence” this year, let’s seek God above all else as David did, and never forget that God’s presence is the source of our peace, His power and His provision.

Our Presence and our Part

The Apostle Paul spent much of his ministry encouraging every Christian to know the importance of the part that we all play.

He described in detail how we are all part of the body of Christ, and that we all have a specific function, just as each part of the body does.

Paul emphasized that our presence makes all the difference and that when we are not present the body suffers and is incomplete.

He also said:

He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love. Eph 4:16 NLT

Let’s never forget the importance of the part that each one of us plays. Our presence not only makes a difference but it makes all the difference!

As we presence ourselves through our talent, time and treasure may we continue to be the difference that makes the difference in our homes, church, community and world.

Our Presence through our Generosity

We want to thank all of you who are partnering with us through your giving, making it possible for us to be present as a church in our community and beyond.

Thank you for taking time to prayerfully read the letter you received in the mail about our Vision 2021 initiatives and asking God what He would have you do this year.

You can fill the card out and put it in the offering box in the foyer of the church, or email a photo or copy of the card to michael.ellmann@newportchurch.com

Whether it’s as a Vision Partner, Kingdom Builder or a contributor in any way, your generosity is resourcing us as a church to be present in people’s time of need, body, soul and spirit.

And as we give, John said that our giving reflects the heart of God, who gave His Son Jesus for each one of us.

We know love by this, that he laid down his life for us—and we ought to lay down our lives for one another. 1 Jn 3:16 NRSV

We look forward to you joining us in our service tomorrow at 11am either in person or online, it’s going to be a great morning and it won’t be the same without you!

Thank you for your love and support, we are believing for a great year together!

Every Vision Needs Provision

Hi Newport Church Family,

We trust that you are doing well and are in good health and spirit.

Indoor Church Meeting Restrictions Lifted in California!

On February 6th the Supreme Court lifted the state of California’s ban on indoor worship during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This means that all churches in California can resume indoor meetings!

Over the last twelve months we have all been navigating the restrictions and protocols that have impacted our homes, schools, workplaces, church and every area of life.

There has been much divergence of opinion on how we should adhere to these restrictions, especially in regard to places of worship.

We understand those differences along with the varying levels of comfort people have had about in person gatherings and as a church we have done our best to navigate these restrictions from a place of both wisdom and faith.

This has meant that we have continued to provide a variety of service options in order to make our services accessible to all of our church, whether online, or in person outdoors or indoors.

Find your Place at Your own Pace!

We’re excited about resuming indoor services without further interruptions and want to encourage our church to join us in person as soon as you are comfortable in doing so.

As always, we encourage you to find your place at your own pace.

We will continue to livestream our services for those who would prefer to stay at home and look forward to the day when we are all together again.

Of course we will be making sure that all of the necessary protocols will be in place for your safety, and naturally we encourage anyone who has concerns about their health to watch our service online at home.

Every Vision Needs Provision

This week you will have received a letter in the mail, in which we outline how we can all play our part in resourcing God’s vision of salvation for our world.

God invites each and every one of us to partner with Him in building and resourcing His church through our giving.

As we give, we set into motion a chain reaction of blessing.

We honor God, we partner with Him in bringing life and hope to our world, we store up treasure in heaven and we sow seed which He promises to multiply!

We want to thank all of you, who are partnering with us in this way, for your generosity.

Enclosed in the envelope you received two cards, one of which entitled “Give God 90 Days”, is for those who have not yet taken the step of faith to begin to tithe and put God to the test as He encourages us to do.

Bring all the tithes (the tenth) into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you [so great] a blessing until there is no more room to receive it.

Malachi 3:10 AMP

The other card is for each one of us to consider how we can all partner in our vision as a church to be a storehouse of hope and faith for our community, spirit, soul and body.

Thank you for taking time to prayerfully read the letter and ask God what he would have you do.

Remember, God promises to give seed to the sower and multiply the seed that we sow.

This generous God who supplies abundant seed for the farmer, which becomes bread for our meals, is even more extravagant toward you. First he supplies every need, plus more. Then he multiplies the seed as you sow it, so that the harvest of your generosity will grow.

2 Corinthians 9:10 TPT

Presence Makes a Difference

Hi Newport Church Family,

We trust that you are doing well and are in good health and spirit.

God’s Presence and our Presence make all the Difference

What a great Vision Focus Sunday and anointing service we had last weekend!

Whether you joined us in person or online, we pray that you experienced a fresh sense of God’s presence in our worship, the word and anointing prayer.

The word which expresses our focus as a church for 2021 is PRESENCE.

God’s Presence makes all the difference in our lives, our church and our community.
Our Presence makes all the difference in our family, our church and our community.

Last Sunday I spoke about the difference that God’s presence makes, and this week I will be continuing with the second part of the message on the difference our presence makes.

If you missed the first part of the message you can listen to it on our Newport Church Podcast.

We pray that this year all of us will experience an increased measure of God’s presence, in every area of our lives, church and community. And that as we do, our presence will make all the difference, bringing life, hope and faith wherever we go.

Sisterhood – A Morning with Pastor Di

Our first sisterhood morning of the year is taking place today at 10am!

Pastor Di will be sharing our sisterhood vision for 2021, along with a message on how to experience true rest in the midst of the stress and pressures of life.

It’s going to be a great time for all the women, and a great opportunity to invite the people in your world. You can join by clicking on this link

Kingdom Builders Information Night - Tues Feb 16th 7.00-7.30pm on Zoom

Our Kingdom Builders and Vision Partners have faithfully partnered with us over the years, through their generosity, to resource the vision of our church.

They lead the way through their giving so that we can continue to move the vision forward.

We would like to encourage everyone who calls our church home, to consider and pray about partnering with us in one of these groups.

On Tuesday February 16th we will be having a half hour informational zoom call about how we can all be involved, and we would love to have join us along with our Kingdom Builders and Vision Partners for that time together.

Provision for the Vision 2021

Let’s pray and believe God together, that through the giving of our donations, tithes and offerings we will have more than enough provision for the vision, and that God will multiply the seed that each one of us sow.

The one who sows from a generous spirit will reap an abundant harvest. Let giving flow from your heart, not from a sense of religious duty. Let it spring up freely from the joy of giving. 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 TPT

If you would like to give now, you can do so by clicking on this link.

We Need each Other!

We look forward to having you join us for our service tomorrow, either in person or online at 11am.

We will be continuing with the second part of our Vision focus for 2021 and highlighting how our presence makes all the difference!

I love this scripture penned by the writer of the book of Hebrews, and I believe it’s especially relevant for us today.

This is not the time to pull away and neglect meeting together, as some have formed the habit of doing, because we need each other! In fact, we should come together even more frequently, eager to encourage and urge each other onward as we anticipate that day dawning. Hebrews 10:25 TPT

The Greek meaning of the word “neglect” implies a person who is extremely discouraged.

When so many are feeling discouraged, our presence can encourage others during a time when we all need each other more than ever.

Whether you join us in person or are watching online, until you feel comfortable to resume meeting again in person, we pray that you are encouraged and experience God’s presence in ever greater measure.

Let’s never forget how much we need each other!

This is our Prayer for You

That He would unveil within you the unlimited riches of His glory and favor until supernatural strength floods your innermost being with His divine might and explosive power. Then, by constantly using your faith, the life of Christ will be released deep inside you, and the resting place of His love will become the very source and root of your life. Then you will be empowered to discover what every holy one experiences—the great magnitude of the astonishing love of Christ in all its dimensions. How deeply intimate and far-reaching is His love! How enduring and inclusive it is! Endless love beyond measurement that transcends our understanding—this extravagant love pours into you until you are filled to overflowing with the fullness of God!                                                             Ephesians 3:16-19 TPT

We are thankful for each one of you, and love and appreciate you greatly.

Faith and Expectation

Hi Newport Church Family,

We trust that you are doing well and in good health and spirit.

Tomorrow is the final day of our 21 Day RESET and we hope that this has been a great time of renewal and resetting at the beginning of the new year.

Vision Sunday – Join us Tomorrow in Person or Online!

Our 21 days of prayer and fasting concludes tomorrow with Vision Sunday, including a special moment of prayer and anointing for each one of us during the service.

We encourage you to do everything you can to join us, in person or online as we share our Vision, our theme and word for 2021 and for an awesome time of worship.

A special welcome to Jake and Raquel Damron, who have relocated here for a season, and will be co-leading worship this Sunday!

It’s going to be a great day!

Anointing Moment

Our anointing moment will be a little different this year. We will be providing a few drops of oil in a cup for all those who come in person, so that you can anoint yourselves, while we pray for you to know God’s favor and anointing for 2021.

If you are watching online, have some oil ready so that you can join in that moment from your home.

In speaking of anointing David wrote:

You care for all my needs, anointing my head with soothing, fragrant oil, filling my cup again and again with Your grace. Psalm 23:5 VOICE

Faith and Expectation

Let’s come to church this week full of faith and expectation.

Let’s believe that like David, God will care for all of our needs, anoint us with His Spirit and fill our cup to overflowing again and again this year.

I never underestimate the power of expectation.

Faith and expectation go hand in hand and whenever we approach any moment with that combination, significant things happen.

When a blind man came to Jesus asking to be healed, Jesus asked him, “do you believe that I can open your eyes?”

When the blind man answered, “Yes Lord, I do”, Jesus said, “You will have what your faith expects!” Matthew 9:29 TPT and the blind man’s eyes were opened.

God wants to do extraordinary things in each one of our lives, and faith and expectation release His power and provision in extraordinary ways.

First Tuesday

Next Tuesday February 2nd we are resuming our first Tuesdays, which are a time when all of our leaders, volunteers, Life Groups and everyone in our church gather for worship, vision, prayer and teaching of the Word.

We will be unpacking the practical aspects of our vision for 2021, and would love for you to join us either in person or online.

Let’s do all that we can to be there, so that we can work together, despite the challenges we’re facing, to bring much needed hope and faith to our community and world.

Our Vision 2020 Giving

A big thank you to all those who made commitments to and contributed to our Vision 2020 initiatives.

Even though we were not able to do many of the things we had planned to do in 2020, given the way the year turned out, there was still much that we accomplished as a church to fulfil our vision of being a hub of hope and faith for our city and beyond.

From within the four walls of our church, to the homes, communities and cities around us and as far as the streets of Mumbai in India your giving made a significant difference spirit, soul and body, in the lives of so many. Thank you!

Provision for Vision 2021

Every vision needs provision, and as we share the vision we will also be sharing how we can all participate in contributing to making our vision a reality.

For those who made Vision 2020 commitments and contributions, any recurring giving will carry over into 2021, or you can begin to contribute or make changes to your 2021 Vision giving on Pushpay.

All of our giving to our Vision initiatives is over and above our normal donations or tithes, which enable us to build a strong home base and storehouse from which we can serve our community and world.

So thank you to all who have faithfully and consistently given your donations and tithes over this last year.

God is faithful and His promises are sure.

Our giving not only makes a way for others to know God’s love, but it makes a way for God to show us His love, by giving back to us in greater measure.

One person gives freely, yet gains even more;
another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty.

A generous person will prosper;
whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.

Proverbs 11:24-25 NIV

And as Jesus said, “Your measurement of generosity becomes the measurement of your return.” Luke 6:38

Keep Praying at all Times

Let’s keep praying at all times for all people as God encourages us to do.

If you have a specific prayer request or need prayer please email us at more@nepwortchurch.com so that we can include you in our prayers as a church.

We can’t wait to see you tomorrow for Vision Sunday!

We are so thankful for you, we love and appreciate you greatly.

With love and blessings

We trust that you are doing well and experiencing a fresh measure God’s grace and favor each new day.

21 Day RESET

We hope that you’ve been able to join us for our 21 days of prayer, fasting and RESET.

As Solomon wrote, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”

And there is no time like the beginning of the year to reset our priorities, to refocus and realign ourselves to the pattern of God’s word.

We hope the daily devotionals and videos have been an inspiration and encouragement to you. If they’ve been an encouragement to you, they will no doubt encourage others in your world, so at a time when new year’s resolutions are at the forefront of people’s thinking, let’s make the most of the opportunity to share the devotionals with others.

We hope you received the 21 Day RESET Fridge magnet in the mail which has a QR code link to our devotionals, you can also receive or forward the link by clicking here.

Vision and Anointing Service Sunday January 31st

On the last day of the month we will be concluding our 21 day RESET with our Vision Sunday and Anointing Service.

We’ll be sharing our Newport Church Vision for 2021, and if you are joining us online, make sure to have some oil ready to anoint yourself and your family, as we pray for God’s anointing and supernatural favor for 2021.

First Tuesday, February 2nd

On the first Tuesday of February we will be resuming our first Tuesdays , which are time when all of our leaders, volunteers, Life Groups and everyone in our church gather for worship, vision, prayer and teaching of the Word.

Be sure to mark this in your calendars, because we will be unpacking the practical aspects of our vision for 2021, and would love for you to join us either online or in person.

We are very excited about the opportunities that we have at this time, despite all of the challenges we’re facing, to bring much needed hope and faith to our community and world.

This Sunday January 24th

This Sunday I will be resuming our series, RESET, RENEW, REBUILD from the books of Ezra and Nehemiah, If you missed either of the first two messages you can listen to them on our Newport Church podcast.

Thank you for your Faithful Giving

Thank you for your continued faithful giving. Your donations, tithes and offerings are making a difference!

Not only does your generosity enable us to continue to be a church that is hub of hope and faith, but it helps us to be a storehouse for our community and to extend our reach and presence across the world.

Our Food with Love ministry provides much needed food for close to 1,000 people every week and we are continuing our support of 20 children in India, through Vision Rescue, with daily food, health care education and faith based life and work skills.

Thank you for partnering with us, to help us to excel in generosity, as a church.

As Paul wrote to the Corinthians:

But since you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you—see that you also excel in this grace of giving.

2 Corinthians 8:7 NIV

He goes on to say:

The heart regulates the hands. This isn’t so others can take it easy while you sweat it out. No, you’re shoulder to shoulder with them all the way, your surplus matching their deficit, their surplus matching your deficit. In the end you come out even. As it is written, Nothing left over to the one with the most, Nothing lacking to the one with the least.

2 Corinthians 8:13 MSG

As we all do our part, we can make a difference!

Let’s never forget that God promises to give seed to those who sow, and multiply the seed we sow!

God supplies seed for the person who plants. He supplies bread for food. God will also supply and increase the amount of your seed. He will increase the results of your good works.

2 Corinthians 9:10 NIRV

If you would like to give your offering now you can do so by clicking here.

Praying at all Times

God is not only able, but willing to do exceedingly abundantly above and beyond all that we can ever ask or imagine!

Let’s keep praying with us for our nation, our leaders, our new President and that God will turn back the tide of COVID-19.

We are praying and believing that restrictions will lift, so that we can meet as a church in an unencumbered and safe manner SOON!

In the meantime, we look forward to you joining us tomorrow either online or at our Newport Church Café!

We love and appreciate you greatly.

Finding and Keeping our God Shape

Hi Newport Church Family,

We hope you had a great week and were able to join us for the start of our 21 days of prayer and fasting, along with our 21 Day Reset daily devotional.

21 Day RESET

I love this time of year because it gives us all an opportunity to RESET, both as individuals and as a church.

A time to refresh our focus with intentionality and purpose, assess what we need to reprioritize and make the necessary course corrections.

If you have not yet joined us for our 21 day RESET devotional you can do so by clicking here.

Last Sunday we launched our first series of the year entitled “RESET, RENEW, REBUILD”, which dovetails with our 21 Day RESET. In this series we are gaining fresh insight and revelation into how Ezra and Nehemiah were used by God to Reset, Renew and Rebuild the nation of Israel and the lessons we can learn for us as individuals, the church and a nation as we Reset after 2020.

If you missed our service you can get the message on podcast or on our Newport Church YouTube channel

Finding and Keeping our God Shape

Just as our declaration determines our destination, our priorities determine the shape of our lives.

Whatever we put first will always determine the shape of our lives, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

New Year is a time when we often focus on getting in shape, through  healthy diet and increased exercise. Without making those adjustments we would never be able to achieve our goals.

God has a “God shape” for each one of us and in the same way that we get in shape physically, we must continually be making the necessary adjustments to our priorities to get into and live according to our “God shape”.

Blaise Pascal a 17th Century French Mathematician and Philosopher said:

“There is a God-shaped vacuum in the heart of each man which cannot be satisfied by any created thing but only by God the Creator, made know through Jesus Christ.”

We find and live our best life when we are living according to our God “Shape”.

We do this when we put God first, along with the principles and truths of His word that help us to find and keep the shape of God’s design for each one of us.

Let’s do all that we can find and keep our God Shape in 2021!

Vision and Anointing Service January 31st

At the conclusion of our 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting we will be praying for each one of you in an anointing service with a difference!

Whether in your homes, in our outside service or inside if restrictions allow, you will have the opportunity to anoint yourself and your family and we will pray for God’s anointing and supernatural favor on you in 2021.

This will be a unique but powerful way to conclude our 21 Day RESET, and we will also be sharing our Vision for the coming months and year.

Let’s continue to believe and pray or the very best start to 2021 together!

Pray for our Leaders and Unity in our Nation

Paul wrote to Timothy in a time of civil unrest, disunity and opposition to Christianity:

Most of all, I’m writing to encourage you to pray with gratitude to God. Pray for all men with all forms of prayers and requests as you intercede with intense passion. And pray for every political leader and representative, so that we would be able to live tranquil, undisturbed lives, as we worship the awe-inspiring God with pure hearts. It is pleasing to our Savior-God to pray for them. He longs for everyone to embrace his life and return to the full knowledge of the truth. 1 Tim 2:1-4 TPT

Let’s pray with renewed focus this week for our leaders and unity in our nation as we approach Inauguration Day.

God says, that if we humble ourselves and pray and turn to Him, then He will hear from heaven and heal our land.

Thank you for your Generosity

Thank you for your continued generosity, your giving is making a difference and enables us to continue to meet the significant needs of our church family and our community at an unprecedented time of spiritual, mental and physical need. Without you this would not be possible.

If you would like to make a donation, tithe or offering now, you can do so on Pushpay, and where you can also set up recurring giving.

We are believing and praying with you for great blessing and breakthrough in these next 21 days.

We love and appreciate you greatly.

21 DAY RESET

Hi Newport Church Family,

We hope that you have had a great start to the year and are experiencing a fresh measure of God’s grace and favor.

21 DAY RESET – Starting Monday January 11th

In two days we start our annual 21 days of Prayer and Fasting, which we are naming a 21 Day RESET!

This is a great opportunity for all of us to dedicate our year to God and to take time for a Spirit, Soul and Body RESET.

21 DAY DEVOTIONAL

Our Devotional, which will have a new “Word for the Day” each day, along with a short video encouragement will be posted on our Website and Instagram daily.

We would love for you to join us in what is going to be a powerful time for each one of us and for us as a church.

21 DAY PERSONAL GOALS

We encourage you to set some personal goals to RESET for 2021

Goal setting helps us to be proactive about what we want to achieve. Setting goals for a shorter period of time also makes our goals more achievable, while establishing patterns and habits that will bring new growth and health.

Here are 5 Spiritual goals that we can all participate in daily:

1)  Pray

Set a specific and amount of time to pray each day, without distractions, and make that an intentional part of your day.

2)  Fast

Choose a fast that is an “appetite-denying discipline to better focus on God” and keep yourself accountable for 21 days.

3)  Read your Bible

Set aside time each day to read your Bible and pray that God will speak to you through His Word.

4)  Worship

Be part of our weekend services, whether its online or at our Newport Church Café outside our building.

5)  Give

Honor God through our giving, trusting that He will honor His promises to open the windows of heaven and multiply the seed we sow, so that we can continue to be a storehouse for our community and beyond.

Let’s believe God together, that He will do extraordinary things as we set this time aside to pray, fast and seek Him in His Word!

NEW SERIES STARTING THIS SUNDAY – “RESET, RENEW, REBUILD”

This Sunday I will be starting a new series which the Holy Spirit highlighted to me, from the books of Ezra and Nehemiah, for this year.

It’s time to RESET, it’s time to RENEW and it’s time to REBUILD and I believe that this will be a timely message for us all as we enter this new year and season.

We hope that you can join us this Sunday for the first part of this new series, and for a powerful time of worship.

If you are unable to join us live at 11am, the service will be available on YouTube and the podcast of the messages will also be available on our website.

Even though we may not all be able to be in the same place physically, we can still continue to stay connected through our weekend service and be on the same page with our theme for the beginning of the new year.

OUR PRAYER FOR YOU

Our prayer for you this year is, that you will know God’s presence, power and provision in ever increasing ways and that through you many others may know of the love and grace of God that you experience.

Let’s believe together, as we seek God first in these first days of 2021, that we will know the reality and power of these words of Jesus in our lives and church:

Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Matthew 6:33

Believing God with you for blessing and breakthrough in these next 21 days.

We love and appreciate you greatly.

First Sunday of 2021

Hi Newport Church Family,

Happy New Year! We pray that you will know God’s favor, grace and presence this year in every way and that together we can continue to grow in love, hope, faith and strength.

First Sunday of the Year

Tomorrow is the first Sunday of the year and I can’t think of a better way to start the year than gathering to worship and open God’s word together.

Jesus said that wherever two or more are gathered together in His name, there He is in the midst, and Paul declares that faith comes and grows by hearing the Word of God.

Let’s start the year in God’s Presence and in His Word and establish that as the pattern for our 2021!

Whether it’s online or outside our building, where we have an LED wall, tables and chairs set up and great hand crafted coffee available, we would love for you to join us.

Our Declaration Determines our Destination

My message tomorrow is on the power of our declaration. I’m excited to bring this message that I believe is so relevant in an environment where so much of our experience is being shaped by forces outside of our control.

When the prevailing circumstances seem to dictate that we must live by default, God declares that we should live by design and declare the truth of His Word which is more powerful than any circumstance.

Our declaration will always determine our destination, and I pray that this message will inspire and encourage us all as to enter 2021 declaring God’s promises for our lives.

Your Word for the Year….

If you were to choose a Word for 2021 what would it be?

Every year we encourage our church to ask God for a Word for the year and once again we encourage you to find your word for 2021.

As you declare it, God will breathe on it and bring it to life, just as when Ezekiel prophesied to the valley of dry bones, God breathed on the bones and they came to life.

As you find your Word for 2021 may God breathe on it and supernaturally bring it to life!

21 Day Reset

21 days to make a habit, 21 days to break a habit!

On January 10th we will be starting our annual 21 days of Prayer and Fasting.

I love this season because it gives us all an opportunity to RESET and I am sure that we are all more than ready to do that.

Over the next two weeks I will be sharing more detail on what will be involved but here are some of the key elements.

  • Prayer & Fasting

Pray:  Set aside some time each day to pray. Whether it’s 5 minutes, half an hour or more, pray in an intentional focused way.

Fast: Choose a fast that will involve personal sacrifice.

Matthew 6:14 in the Message describes Jesus’ words on Fasting as an “appetite-denying discipline to better concentrate on God”.

  • 21 Day Devotional

We will have a 21 Day Devotional available with a new “Word of the Day” each day to help us RESET.

For all those who participate we are praying and believing that this will be a significant and powerful 21 days that will set the tone for your year!

  • Vision and Anointing Service January 31st

At the conclusion of our 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting we will be praying for each one of you in an anointing service with a difference!

Whether in your homes, in our outside service or inside if restrictions allow, you will have the opportunity to anoint yourself and your family and we will pray for God’s anointing and supernatural favor on you in 2021.

This will be a unique but powerful way to conclude our 21 Day RESET, and we will also be sharing our Vision for the coming months and year.

Let’s believe for the very best start to 2021 together!

Your Generosity is Making a Difference

On Vision Sunday we will be highlighting many of the things that we were able to do as a church this last year.

Even though we faced many challenges and restrictions we were able to make a significant difference in the lives of many through your generosity.

The weekly online services that brought hope and faith to those who joined us online, our Food with Love team that gave food to over 100 food at risk families every week and the classroom of 20 children that we supported in Mumbai, India for the year are a few of the examples of what your generosity enable us to do.

First Offering of 2021

This Sunday we have the opportunity to give our first offering of the year.

God’s Word talks about the power of what we put first in our lives and the first offering of the year is significant because it is an expression of our honoring God with the first of our finances.

Honor the Lord by giving him the first part of all your income, and he will fill your barns with wheat and barley and overflow your wine vats with the finest wines.

Proverbs 3:9 TLB

Let’s start this year by putting God first through our tithes and offerings and declare that His promises to open the windows of heaven and pour out His blessing will be a reality in our lives.

If you would like to give your offering now you can do so by clicking here.

Thank you once again for your continued generosity, we are making an eternal difference together!

God is both Willing and Able

Our prayer for you is that our God who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we could ever ask, hope or imagine will bless you and your family throughout 2021!

We look forward to you joining us tomorrow for our first service and first Sunday of the year!

We love and appreciate you greatly.

What have we Learned and How have we Grown in 2020?

Hi Newport Church Family,

We are so thankful for you and all that you contribute to the life of our church family and community.

We hope that you had a very blessed and merry Christmas with your family and friends!

Sabbath Sunday December 27th - A Time to Rest & Reflect

This Sunday will be a “Sabbath Sunday”, where we will not be holding a service but rather taking time at home with our families to rest and reflect on God and His faithfulness this year.

We want to encourage you to take some intentional and purposeful time to do this and we pray that it will be an enriching time for us all.

On the Seventh Day God Rested & Reflected

On the seventh day of Creation, God rested. He did this, not to recuperate from the exertion of creating the heavens and the earth, but in order to reflect on and consider the work of His hands.

The Hebrew word used for “Rested” in Genesis 1 literally means to “desist from, ponder, reflect, meditate on…”

And it strongly communicates the sense of satisfaction that comes from the completion of a project or activity.

On this last Sunday of the year let’s do what God did on last day of Creation by taking time to reflect on all of the highs and lows of this year and on God’s ever present faithfulness in the midst of it all.

What have we Learned and How have we Grown in 2020?

Even though this year did not turn out the way we expected it to, we have all had many opportunities to learn and to grow.

The truth is that we grow and learn more in times of adversity than we do in times of ease.

The Apostle Peter used the analogy of how gold is refined to describe how our faith is refined and strengthened.

As Gold is put into intense heat, the dross or impurities in the gold are brought to the surface so that they can be removed and a purer, more refined gold remains.

In the same way our faith is refined in times of difficulty and extreme pressure, and we learn and grow in ways that can only take place in these times.

“Though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.”

1 Peter 1:6-7 NIV

As we leave 2020 and enter 20121 may we do so, better, stronger, wiser and with a faith that has grown through the difficulties and pressures of this year.

Making a Difference this Christmas!

We are so thankful for all that we were able to do together to make a difference in people’s lives this Christmas and it wouldn’t have been possible without you.

A big thank you to all those who gave their time, talent and finances to make it all happen!

Our annual “My Christmas Wish Serve Day” and our Christmas Special were significant and successful days and so many people were greatly blessed through them.

You can check out some of the photos of My Christmas Wish Serve Day here and watch the Christmas special on our Newport Church YouTube channel if you missed it or would like to share it with others.

If you have not had an opportunity to contribute to our Thanksgiving offering there is still time to do so, and you can also give your regular tithes and offerings by clicking this link

Our Next Sunday Service is on January 3rd 2021!

We look forward to seeing you for our next Sunday service on January 3rd.

We are praying that God will do exceedingly abundantly above all that you could ever ask, hope or imagine for you, your family and our church in 2021!

We love and appreciate you greatly

Christ entered our World to set all things Right

Hi Newport Church Family,

We want to wish you all a very happy and blessed Christmas!

As we gather with family and friends we pray that this will be a special time for you all as we celebrate the birth of Jesus together.

“All Creation Sings”, Christmas Special

We hope to see you at our Christmas Special tomorrow at 11am. Our team have put together a presentation of the birth of Jesus called “All Creation Sings”, which will be both inspiring and faith building.

We have an LED wall outside, great food and coffee, before and after the service and tables and chairs where we can connect and encourage each other. It’s going to be an awesome morning!

Christmas Eve Service online at 6pm

We would also love for you to join us for our Christmas Eve service at 6pm on Thursday 24th December.

This will be a 45 minute online service that we can watch in our homes with our families as we take time in the midst of our Christmas preparations to consider the Mystery, Wonder and Glory of Christmas and worship Jesus together.

Sabbath Sunday on Sunday 27th December

On the Sunday after Christmas we are having a Sunday Sabbath! This means that there will be no service and we encourage you to take time at home to rest and reflect on the birth of Jesus and His faithfulness in our lives in this year filled with so many challenges.

In our next email, we will be sharing some thoughts to reflect on as we prepare for the New Year.

Christ entered our World to set all things Right

I love the message translation of Paul’s letter to the Romans where he says:

“God didn’t deal with our problem as something remote and unimportant, but in his Son, Jesus, he personally took on the human condition and entered the disordered mess of struggling humanity in order to set it right once and for all.”

As we celebrate Christmas together let’s never forget the hope that this brings to us all.

God is neither remote nor disinterested, but He entered and enters our world in the midst of our struggle and mess to set things right.

There is nothing that is beyond the scope of His interest or power. God is able to set all things right, however hard or impossible our situation may be.

Let’s invite Jesus who lit up the darkness on the night that He was born, to do the same for each one of us this Christmas.

And let’s never forget that He is the One in whom we can confidently put our Hope!

Everything Matters More at Christmas

Christmas is a time when everything seems to matter more than at any other time of the year.

Those who are lonely will feel more lonely, those who are away from family will feel the absence of family all the more, loved ones who are no longer with us will be missed with a greater sense of loss, those who have lack of any kind will feel their lack even more, because everything seems to matter more at Christmas.

Let’s do everything in our power this Christmas to reach out to those around us, to those who the Holy Spirit puts on our hearts and minds, and encourage them in whatever way we can.

Whether it’s calling them, sending them a text, praying for them, letting them know they’re in your thoughts and prayers, catching up for a coffee or an invitation to an activity are just some of the many ways we can be there for the people in our world.

We can be the difference in their world at a time when everything seems to matter more!

Christmas – A Time of Giving

Christmas is a time of giving and the giving of our donations, tithes and offerings is especially important at this time when we are continuing to do all that we can to meet the natural and spiritual need in our community.

My Christmas Wish which we are hosting today is an opportunity for us to share our love with families at Christmas.

At the same time our Food with Love ministry is continuing to grow, along with the need for more food and provision.

Over recent weeks we have been distributing food from our church and our  building is serving as a storehouse and hub of hope and faith in ever increasing ways for our community.

Thank you for your generosity at this time, your giving is making a significant difference.

A big thank you to all those who have contributed to our end of year Thanksgiving Offering. If you have not had an opportunity to contribute to it yet you can do so by clicking here.

We’re Thankful for….

Don’t forget to check out the Instagram stories of members of our church, who are sharing what they are thankful for on our Newport Church account. You will be encouraged by their stories!

Prayer Changes Things

Let’s never forget the power of prayer as we keep praying that God will turn back the tide of COVID-19 and that His Kingdom come and His will be done in our lives and world.

God is not only able but willing to do exceedingly abundantly above and beyond all that we can ever ask or imagine!

We look forward to you joining us tomorrow for our Christmas Special either online or at our Newport Church Café!

We are thankful for you and love and appreciate you greatly.

With love and blessings

Jesus, the Greatest Gift of All

Hi Newport Church Family,

We pray that you are well, and in good health and spirit.

Jesus, the Greatest Gift of All

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life”, is one of the most well known passages of scripture in the Bible and it sums up the message of Christmas perfectly.

God the Father sent His Son Jesus into a world that was alienated and estranged from Him so that we could be welcomed home into the arms of our Heavenly Father.

Jesus’ birth was the greatest gift of all because He was born into an earthly family so that we could be born into His heavenly family.

He was born as the first born of many brethren so that we could belong to the family of God both here on earth and in Heaven.

He was born into our time so that we could receive the gift of eternal life with Him.

And if every reason why Jesus is the greatest gift of all were written down one by one, as John concludes in his gospel, “the world itself wouldn’t have enough room to contain the books that would have to be written!”

Let’s never forget in this season of exchanging gifts that Jesus is the greatest gift of all.

When we recognize that truth and honor Jesus by allowing Him to be at the very center of our lives, He will light up the darkest night, bring hope in the midst of uncertainty and transform even the most impossible of situations, just as He did on the day of His birth.

Faith, Family and Friends

Over the next two weeks we will have many opportunities to celebrate Christmas and our faith in Jesus with family and friends.

Even though there are mandated COVID restrictions, we can still gather as a church for Sunday services outside our building, where we have the best coffee, great breakfast and faith building connection in our Newport Church Café. We would love to see you there!

Let’s not allow current restrictions to prevent us from worshipping together, and let’s keep encouraging one another in our faith as we are part of all that is happening in the life of our church over the next few weeks.

The Hope of Christmas

Hi Newport Church Family,

We pray that you are well, and in good health and spirit.

It’s hard to believe that we are only three weeks away from Christmas and four weeks away from 2021!

The Hope of Christmas

Even though Christmas this year will be different in many ways, we are praying that in this season the timeless message of the birth of Jesus will cause hope to rise in all of our hearts.

One of the best ways to navigate difficult times is to have hope in our hearts. Hope means that we are hoping for something better, a better day, a better future.

Jesus birth brought great hope to all those who saw and heard of it. Writing prophetically, Isaiah penned these words:

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined.  Isaiah 9:2

The light of Jesus’ birth  brought great hope and joy to the people of His day and to all who have lived since. Through the many challenges, difficulties and darkest of days Jesus’ light always shines brighter and more constantly than any other.

For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of His government and peace
There will be no end

                                              Isaiah 9:6-7

In this Christmas season, may the same hope that filled the hearts of all who witnessed Jesus’ birth in those darkest of days, fill our hearts also with hope, joy and peace.

And lets never forget that, “Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end”!

Weekend Services in December

In these coming weeks we will be watching all of the state and county mandates closely while continuing to have online and in person service options available.

As soon as we are able to meet indoors we will be letting you know!

Newport Church Café

In the meantime we would love to have you join us at our Newport Church Café where we will be screening the service and will serve you a hand crafted coffee and food while you connect and worship with others.

We’re Thankful for….

We hope that you have been enjoying the daily Instagram stories of members of our church who are sharing what they are thankful for. Be sure to check out their stories on our Newport Church Instagram, and give them a shout out. You will be encouraged by their stories and they will be encouraged by your response.

Thanksgiving Offering

A big thank you to all those who have contributed to our Thanksgiving Offering.

If you haven’t had an opportunity to give your offering yet you can do so between now and the end of the year.

We are leaving a legacy for the next generation, as previous generations have done for us, by building a strong healthy church that is a hub of hope to our community and beyond!

Praying at all times

God encourages us:

Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.

Ephesians 6:18

Let’s pray that the tide of COVID-19 is turned and eradicated, for righteousness in our nation and that the church worldwide rises up out of this season stronger and better prepared for revival and for God’s Kingdom to come and His will be done.

We look forward to you joining us tomorrow either online or at our Newport Church Café!

We are thankful for you and love and appreciate you greatly.

Grace, Gratitude and Generosity

Hi Newport Church Family,

We hope you had a happy and blessed Thanksgiving.

Even though this year may not have turned out the way that we expected it to, and we have all faced challenges in many different ways, we all have a lot that we can be thankful for.

And Thanksgiving is one of those days when we can gather with family and friends, enjoy each other’s company, eat great food and reflect on all that God has done for us and blessed us with.

I’m Thankful for….

Every day we are posting Instagram stories of members of our church who are sharing what they are thankful for. Be sure to check out their stories on our Newport Church Instagram, and give them a shout out. You will be encouraged by their stories and they will be encouraged by your response.

Grace, Gratitude and Generosity

As we approach Christmas which is only four weeks away, we are reminded of God’s grace and generosity in sending His Son Jesus and the gratitude that we have for the greatest gift of all.

Wherever there is great Grace one will find Generosity & Gratitude.

When I was first awakened to the love and grace of God, I was awakened to His extravagant generosity & the result was that I experienced overwhelming gratitude.

I also discovered that the more gratitude I have, the more I experience God’s presence, power and provision.

The message version of the Bible translates the words of David in Psalm 100:4 “Enter with the password: Thank you!”

David is revealing the powerful truth that gratitude is the password that opens the door to God’s presence and provision.

Jesus demonstrated this in the feeding of the 5,000. He gave thanks for the five loaves and two small fish and they were multiplied supernaturally so that all of the people were fed and twelve full baskets were leftover.

Jesus gave thanks for what He did have and received what He didn’t have.

When we give thanks for what we do have, our gratitude opens the door for God to give us what we don’t have.

Giving thanks for what God has given us is the password that unlocks the door to His provision.

Let’s keep that attitude of gratitude alive in us all year round, and watch how God opens doors for us in every area of our lives.

Thanksgiving Offering

A big thank you to all those who have contributed to our Thanksgiving Offering.

Let’s never forget the sacrifices that previous generations have made so that we could hear about and know the love of Jesus. They paved the way and carried the torch for us, now it’s our turn to do the same for the next generations.

We do not ive in an isolated slice of time but each one of us is a part of the continuum of generations that have given sacrificially over thousands of years to see God’s Kingdom come to a broken and hurting world.

Let’s do our part and leave a legacy for the next generation, by building a strong healthy church that is a hub of hope to our community and beyond!

If you haven’t had an opportunity to give your offering yet you can do so by clicking here.

This Sunday!

We look forward to seeing you this Sunday for our service at 11am either online or at our Newport Church Cafe.

I am continuing with our series “Great Grace” and am speaking on “How to live with Grace and Gratitude”. All of our teams are ready for what will be a faith building and inspiring service.

We are thankful for you and love and appreciate you greatly.

Thankful for...

Hi Newport Church Family,

We want to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!

We hope and pray that you have a blessed and happy time with your family and friends this week.

Even though this year has turned out far from all of our expectations, there is so much that we can be thankful for and there are so many lessons that we can take with from this season.

If you have a story that you would like to share and encourage others with, you can do so by clicking on this link, http://newportchurch.com/thanksgiving2020

We would love to hear from you!

New Government Church Meeting Restrictions

With most of California including Orange County in the Purple tier of COVID restrictions we are currently only permitted to meet outside our building.

So, this weekend we will be screening our service live from inside our building and you can either join us online or outside our building where you can connect with others in a café space with tables, chairs, a screen and the very best coffee from our Newport Church Café!

We will be monitoring state and local restrictions closely and be giving you regular updates on our website, where you can find all the current details.

Special Thanksgiving Offering

This weekend we are very excited about the opportunity to give our annual Thanksgiving offering.

We have been giving an end of year offering every year since we started Newport Church, as an expression of our gratitude for all that God has done for us.

And with this offering we are doing what previous generations have done for us, which is to pave the way for future generations through our generosity.

David said,

“One generation shall praise Your works to another,
And shall declare Your mighty acts.”

Psalm 145:4

Our giving will enable us to continue to be a storehouse that meets the needs of our community, body soul and spirit.

With calls to crisis help line centers increasing by 8,000% during the pandemic, drug and alcohol abuse and deaths, domestic violence and suicide rates all soaring amidst the restrictions, we have never experienced a time like this as a church, when people have needed a community and hub of hope and faith.

Let’s never forget what God has done for us, the price that others paid to pave the way for us, and that our generosity can do to pave the way for future generations.

We encourage you to take time to:

1)   Think about all that God has done for you.

2)   Think about all that previous generations have sacrificed for us to know God’s love and the difference that we can make by leaving a lasting spiritual legacy as they did for us.

3)   Pray about what God would have each one of us give.

 As Jesus said,

“Freely you have received, freely give”

Matthew 10:8

Just a reminder that if you made a Vision 2020 or Kingdom Builders commitment this year, then whatever you give in this offering will go towards that commitment.

If you would like make a contribution now you can do so by clicking here.

Thankful for….

This week we will be posting Instagram stories each day, with members of our church family sharing what they are thankful for. Take time to check out their stories and encourage them on our Newport Church Instagram.

We are very thankful for each one of you and all that you bring and add to our church and community.

Never underestimate the value and power of your presence and your ability to bring much needed hope to every person you meet.

Can’t wait for you to join on Sunday either outside our church building or online.

We love and appreciate you all greatly,

A Time to be Thankful

Hi Newport Church Family,

We pray that you have known God’s grace and peace this week.

Sunday Morning Services have Resumed!

How good it was to gather once again in our building last Sunday! What a great service it was, and if you weren’t able to join us in person we hope you were able to join us for our online live stream of the service or on Newport Church YouTube at a later time.

We’re very thankful for all our teams who worked so hard to make it possible and we’re excited to gather again this Sunday at 11am.

All the details can be found HERE and if you would prefer not to wear a mask we will be setting up a café space outside the building where you can enjoy a coffee and the service which will be screened outside.

A Time to be Thankful

It’s hard to believe that we are already less than two weeks away from Thanksgiving!

Solomon wrote, “For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.” Ecclesiastes 3:1

Thanksgiving is a time when we focus and reflect on all that we can be thankful for, and for all that God has blessed us with. During this Thanksgiving season, let’s take every opportunity to count our blessings, think of all the things that we can be thankful for and thank God for His faithfulness.

Thankful for those who Paved the Way for Us

David said, “One generation shall praise Your works to another, and shall declare Your mighty acts.” Psalm 145:4

David was declaring the powerful truth that God works through the generations and that each generation both benefits from the previous generation and has a responsibility to pave the way for future generations.

All that we have today as followers of Christ is because others who went before us carried the torch and gave their time, talent, treasure and sometimes their lives so that we could know God’s love and grace. For that we can be eternally thankful.

Now we have the privilege, opportunity and responsibility to do the same for future generations and pave the way for them.

As Jesus said, “Freely you have received, freely give” Matthew 10:8

Leaving a Legacy through our Thanksgiving Offering

One of the ways that we can do this is through our special Thanksgiving Offering on Sunday 22nd November.

This offering will be over and above our normal giving and will give us an opportunity to sow into our future and leave a legacy for our children and our children’s children.

We encourage you to take time to

1)   Think about all that previous generations have sacrificed for us.

2)   Think about the difference that we can make by leaving a lasting spiritual legacy.

3)   Pray about what God would have each one of us give.

Jesus spoke about the eternal legacy we can all leave:

Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Matthew 6:19-21 NKJV

Jesus is saying that what we give we will keep forever!

Let’s leave a legacy for future generations as others have done for us, and let’s make a way for them through our generosity to find and know Jesus, the gateway to Heaven.

Just a reminder that if you made a Vision 2020 or Kingdom Builders commitment then whatever you give in this offering will go towards that commitment.

If you would like make a contribution now you can do so by clicking here.

We are Thankful for YOU!

We are very thankful for each one of you and all that you bring and add to our church and community.

Never underestimate the value and power of your presence and your ability to bring much needed hope to every person you meet.

Can’t wait to see you on Sunday or for you to join us online.

We love and appreciate you all greatly,

The Angle and Attitude of our Reentry

Hi Newport Church Family,

We pray that you have known God’s grace and peace this week.

What a week it has been as we await the result of the election, let’s keep praying for God to continue to work in the midst of the process and the outcome.

Sunday Morning Services Resume Tomorrow at 11 am!

We are so excited to be resuming our Sunday morning services tomorrow! This is a very significant day for us as a church, after eight months of not meeting in our building, and we would love for you to join us.

A big thank you to all our team who have been working so hard to prepare and make this the best possible experience for us all.

Our teams are ready to serve, our worship team is ready to lead us in a powerful time of worship and I have a word prepared which I believe and pray will inspire and build faith in us all.

Our baristas are ready to pour the very best coffee to your liking and this week all the coffees are free and our welcome home gift to you!

Come early, get your coffee and let’s celebrate gathering again.

After Service Lunch

We have lunch ready for everyone after the service from 12.30-1.15pm, during which time we will share some of our vision for the remainder of the year. Even if you have other lunch plans we would love for you to join us.

The Angle and Attitude of our Reentry

Recently I brought a message on the importance of the angle and attitude of  reentry.

When the space shuttle or any spacecraft reenters the earth’s atmosphere it must do so at a very precise angle and speed.

If the angle is too shallow it will bounce off the earth’s atmosphere like a flat stone on a still pond or if the angle is too steep the friction will be too great and the spacecraft will burn up on reentry.

When a space shuttle successfully enters the earth’s atmosphere at the right angle it must then fly with the right attitude in the earth’s atmosphere in order land.

The attitude of an aircraft is the angle of it’s nose in relation to the horizon.

In basic aeronautical terms, a nose up attitude will cause the aircraft to climb and gain altitude, a nose down attitude will cause the aircraft to descend and lose altitude.

Even when the aircraft is maintaining a constant altitude, it must have a nose up attitude for optimum performance.

Our Angle – 3 Options

In the same way, we have prayed, planned and mapped out what we believe to be the best time, path and angle of our reentry.

Interestingly our timing is the same as our local school districts’ middle and high schools in person hybrid teaching schedule.

We understand that everyone has a different level of comfort for reentry, so along with observing all the necessary protocols, we have provided three options so that you will be able to select an angle of reentry that works for you.

The three options are as follows:

  • Option 1 – Online

  • Option 2 – In Person Outside our Church Building

  • Option 3 – In Person in our Auditorium

Please check out all of the details HERE.

Our Attitude - Grace

In order for this to be the best possible start for us our attitude in our reentry is vital.

Our attitude should be one of Grace. Grace for our transition and grace that we extend to others who may have a different pace of reentry to us.

Paul said that God has given all of us a different measure of faith and a measure of grace for every circumstance.

Let’s help and work with each other as we find our place at our own pace while having an overarching attitude of grace.

Pray, Gather, Invite!

Pray with us, gather your family and friends get the word out and invite all the people in your world.

Let’s be that hub of hope and faith and a storehouse that meets the needs of our community, body, soul and spirit.

Generosity makes a Way for Others

Jesus said He is “The Way” and God gave us the greatest gift of all, His Son, so that we would find the way to come home to Him.

Your giving is making a way for others, just as the generations before us made a way for us to know Jesus’ love grace and power through their generosity.

Don’t forget to keep reminding God of His promises. God is faithful and He will do what He has promised to do as we honor Him and His word through our giving.

He who sows generously [that blessings may come to others] will also reap generously [and be blessed].

2 Corinthians 9:6 Amplified

Thank you once again for the eternal difference you are making!

If you would like make a contribution now you can do so by clicking here.

We are Thankful for YOU!

We are thankful for each one of you and all that you bring and add to our church and community.

What a great moment this is, as we begin to gather again on a regular basis.

Never underestimate the power and value of your presence!

We love and appreciate you all greatly,

Once again wildfires have been raging in California causing evacuation of close to 100,000 people in Orange County including many members of our church, family and friends.

We’ve been staying in close contact with all those affected in our church family and thankfully the fires are being contained. We are especially thankful to all the firefighters and those who have been on the frontlines fighting the fires.

This Wednesday was National First Responders Day and we are extremely grateful for the bravery, sacrifices and hard work of those who have been tirelessly serving our community throughout this year.

Once again a big thank you for your faithful giving of donations, tithes and offerings. Your generosity is especially important at this time and is making a significant difference.

It’s time for us to gather again!

Hi Newport Church Family,

We trust that you are well and experiencing God’s grace and goodness each new day.

Resuming Sunday Morning Services November 8th, 11am

After eight months of online services and much prayer, consideration and counsel we are very excited to announce that we will be resuming our Sunday morning services on November the 8th!

It’s time for us to gather again!

We will be posting the details on our website along with everything that we will be doing to observe all the necessary and mandated protocols.

We will be having three meeting options so that we can be sure to make provision for everyone in this transition.

The three options are as follows:

  • Option 1 – Online

  • Option 2 – In Person Outside our Church Building

  • Option 3 – In Person in our Auditorium

The Impact of Isolation

Over the last eight months we have all experienced the impact of isolation. The effect on our community has been enormous and cannot be underestimated.

Isolation and distance either mandated or through fear is one of the greatest challenges we are facing at this time.

During the pandemic, calls to crisis help lines have increased by up to 8,000%, drug and alcohol abuse and deaths, domestic violence and suicide rates have all soared amidst the COVID-19 restrictions.

We can be a Hub of Hope and Faith

I cannot remember a time like this when we as a church have had the opportunity to be a hub of hope and faith that provides the solution to the void in people lives. This is our hour as we gather and provide the connection with God, and a family and community of faith, that will meet the need of so many in our community.

Gathering by Choice

After months of isolation by fear, isolation by mandate and isolation by habit, now is the time for gathering and integration by choice!

Let’s do our part to not only gather ourselves, but also all of those in our lives and world, and make this transition as safe and reassuring as possible, while we alleviate any concerns and fears that people may have.

This is our hour and our day as the church!

Worship and Communion Service Tonight, October 17, 6pm-7pm

Don’t miss our one hour Worship and Communion Service tonight. We’ve been holding these every two weeks since the beginning of August and they have been a great opportunity for us to gather, worship and take communion together.

This will be our last one before we transition to meeting on Sunday mornings! Click here for all the information.  Let’s do all that we can to be there and to invite our family and friends.

Prayer & Vision Brunch Saturday October 31st 10am-11.30am

We will be having a special Prayer and Vision Brunch in two weeks. This will be the Saturday before the election, and just eight days before our first service in our building for eight months.

We will be taking time for much needed prayer for our nation, to pray for the resumption of our in-building services and to share our vision for the coming months.

Our team will be there and we would love to as many of our church as possible join us. Details will be posted on our website with an opportunity for you to RSVP.

Kingdom Builders Zoom Call Sunday, 1st November, 9.15-9.45am

If you are a Kingdom Builder please join us for a half hour zoom call meeting before our online service on Sunday, November 1st. We are looking forward to giving you an important update at a significant time for us as a church and we will be sending you a personal invitation shortly!

If you are not a Kingdom Builder and would like to find out how to be a part of this inspiring group of people please click here.

Our Giving is Making a Difference

The Power of our Presence in our World

When we go into our community, as Jesus told us to, God goes with us, and our presence and His presence working together make a powerful difference.

Whether it’s words of hope and faith that we share with those in our world, either in person, or through our online services our presence is making a difference.

When our Food with Love team and ministry take food to those who are in need, and share the love of Jesus with them our presence is making a difference.

When we partner with Vision Rescue, loving, feeding, teaching, providing medical attention and health care for the most vulnerable children on the streets of Mumbai in India, our presence is making a difference.

When our church stands as a hub of hope and faith, as we welcome people home from our community, our presence is making a difference.

None of this would be possible without your generosity, and as a contributing partner to all of the above, your presence is making a difference.

If you would like to partner with us, and contribute to any of the above you can do so by clicking here. Your gift is making a difference!

Never underestimate the power of your presence! Your presence is making a difference.

Let’s never underestimate the power of our presence in our world!

Let’s never underestimate the power of God’s presence!

God is on His throne in Heaven let all the earth be silent before Him!

We love and appreciate you all greatly,
